Although my kids were less than excited to stop playing and get their pictures taken, they did have a wonderful time on the much needed field trip day.

As I was walking up the hill to my apartment today, I realized that I need to change the name of my blog. Although my journey to this part of the world still has the focus of trying to love all different kinds of people, after being here for the last three months I still find myself saying almost daily "What in the WORLD?". This phrase may be brought on by something as funny as finding a beady-eyed anchovy in my shirt or as devastating as RE getting trapped by the elevator in my office building. Either way the question is always there-WHAT IN THE WORLD?
I am glad that I have to keep asking myself this question. I pray that God will continue to provide me with new ways to find humor and comfort in Him, as the journey continues on.

One of my kindergarten students approached me this morning and said "Teacher I wrote you a letter last night!" I said "WOW". How flattering it is, that this young girl would take the time to write me a letter! It is simply adorable. As I read it, I couldn't help tears from forming. I do miss you, my family. I thank God often for your many prayers and the unconditional love you show me.

A few of my little angels.

"Come as you are...Come JUST as you are."

Thank you O Lord for taking me as I am. My soul longs for You by day and I dream of You throughout the night. Use my humble blemished being. I am Yours alone. Bridle my will and make Your desires my own. In this strange land, far from the comforts and the human securities I have known, I am not lost because You guide my way.

Strange but Delicious

While walking around tonight after a tumultuous day at school, I discovered a little gem amongst the vast streets of neon lights here in this town. It came in the form of a BBQ. Really not BBQ in the sense of what I know, hamburgers served with potato salad, but instead a table outside with a pit of coals in the middle. The meat was pork of some sort(I hope, as dog is always an option here)with an array of complementary sides. I sat down, paid my money, and enjoyed. The server handed me scissors(and I mean the type of scissors that you used during art class in grade school)to cut the meat into small strips as it was cooking. It stuck to the grill, but the metal chop sticks worked perfectly to pull it off and dip it into these new mouthwatering sauces. Although the red sauce was a bit salty and I am pretty sure I didn't think anything could be too salty for me, the black and green ones were spectacular! My taste buds haven't been this happy for along time and I couldn't control my ridiculous grin. Even though it has been weeks since I have experienced the feeling of hunger, this turned out to be the most enjoyable meal I can think of.
The small things...I am so thankful for the small things.
